My name is Nanette Regan, I am an illustrator based in Jersey. I create two main ranges of work, a children's collection and a collection which incorporates phrases in Jèrriais, the indigenous language of the island.

My degree was in painting, but after graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art, I began experimenting with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and working in a combination of traditional and digital media. All my work begins as pencil on paper, and often takes many hours and revisions before I am happy with the image. The process then involves scanning the illustration and creating the final image using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop. As part of the process of creating the locally influenced images, L’Office du Jèrriais check my work before I print it, to make sure all my Jèrriais is correct.

My work is influenced by the landscape and architecture of the island, I love the varied collection of buildings you find along our coasts: Martello towers, WW2 bunkers, cafes, ice cream vans and follies all mixed together. This combination of old and new is really exciting and I hope to bring some of that interest to my work by mixing our ancient language with bold, graphic prints.

You can see more of my work on my website, and follow my process via my Instagram account, where I photograph works in progress as they develop:
